Cooper Spur Alpine Team offers programs for athletes age 6-18, with each program providing different levels of commitment based on their goals and interests. Our programs are designed to provide training, competition, growth opportunities for young skiers and racers in a fun learning environment. All of our ski programs are built on solid fundamental skills in both free-skiing and race technique, with small groups and maximum ski time. We believe learning is based on repetition, but fun is what provides the motivation. Once the basic skiing skills are mastered, coaching emphasis shifts to refining technique and developing the physical, mental, and emotional skills to be a competitive athlete and good teammate. The FreeRide (FR) programs provide a safe and supervised environment to ride Mt.Hood’s unique terrain, parks and off-piste obstacles for riders age 7-17, while strengthening friendships in a team environment. Small groups of riders will work with experienced and trained staff through an individually tailored progression of skills to develop each athlete’s freeriding, freestyle, and carving abilities. Using CSAT’s knowledgeably and enthusiastic staff, CSAT’s FreeRide programs are designed to produce well-rounded all mountain skiers in and out of the park.
Our FR Junior Development teams are designed for children 7-14 yrs of age and offer five (5) program options based on age, ability, and time commitment. Skier’s younger than 10 yrs may join the Devo, Training, or Competition program with the approval of the coaching staff. Cooper Camp integrates basic skiing and racing fundamentals through fun drills, gate training, and free skiing for optimal skill acquisition. Children that meet our basic requirements are eligible for this 4-day program. You can decide to continue afterwards, by upgrading to one of our Junior Development Teams.
CSAT’s Mt.Bike Club provides opportunities for kids to learn new and work on existing Mt.Bike skills while exploring local trails with friends and trained staff. We believe great ski racers do more than just ski and Mt.Biking allows for young skiers to work on basic alpine fundamentals on dirt rather than snow.
