New President and Board Members Elected

July 31, 2019

Ethan BeckCooper Spur Alpine Team is excited to announce the election of new president and board members to the Board of Directors.

Ethan Beck has been elected to the CSAT board as President for a 3-year term. Ethan grew up ski racing in Vermont where he attended Middlebury College. Upon graduation from Middlebury he coached ski racing for 8 years at Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. His tenure started as a coach for the U-14 aged athletes and concluded as the Head FIS and U16 coach. He currently owns and runs a small business. Ethan and his wife, Gusty, have 3 young skiers in the CSAT program; Thatcher (10), Cameron (8) and Amelia (5).

Ethan intends to build on the club’s strengths and states that “CSAT has a strong and tight-knit community. I hope to help the board capitalize upon its strengths by supporting its staff and
membership as a whole. Initially this will involve newly structured committees at the board level in order to clearly define roles and responsibilities of each board member and solicit more involvement from outside of the board. This will allow for more of the parent member community to help with the heavy lifting and also provide for a more defined succession planning effort for board membership.”

Brook Bielen, father of Izzy and Milo, is now CSAT’s Freeride Liaison. Brook says “For the 2019 freeride season, I would really like to create opportunities for more unity between the Freeride Team, race, and Devo Teams. I would also like to emphasize the importance of parent involvement with the team and develop and foster new ways for parent interaction and participation.”

Jodi Petty is taking the role of Member Education & Outreach. Jodi is active in the community as a Freelance Graphic Designer and as a volunteer PTA parent at Westside Elementary. Her daughter Ella (7) has been part of CSAT’s Ski Racing program for the past two seasons. Jodi is excited to take on the role of Education and Outreach; to help inspire the parent team relationships and encourage new families to join a wonderful community of active families in the beautiful Hood River and surrounding areas.
