Cooper Spur athletes Sutton Bell Lefevre, Hanni Sreenan, Izzy Bielen, and Soren Ulrich have been invited to the Western Region Slalom Project on Mt. Hood this Summer. Only 8 athletes of each gender are invited from the West including OR, WA, ID, CA, NV, UT, WY, MT, and AK. The invitations are based on results from the U14 Junior Championships held last March at Big Sky Montana where the fastest 12 and 13-year-old athletes from all over the West compete in Slalom, GS, and Super G events. Out of the 9 girls who qualified to represent the Pacific Northwest (OR, ID, WA), Sutton was the fastest girl in SL and GS finishing 11th in the SL and 12th in the GS. Izzy Bielen was the second fastest girl in GS finishing 15th and Hanni Sreenan was the fastest Super G skier finishing 17th. All three female athletes were on the young side of their age class this past season and will have the opportunity to take podium finishes at next year’s U14 Junior Champs at Jackson, WY. Attending Western Region’s Slalom Project is a great opportunity for all four athletes and will help them develop their skillsets to achieve their goals in 2020.
